Managing our Oceans: regulations proposed under the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environment Effects Bill)

 
Local Government New Zealand suggests that regulatory frameworks applying to the exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) are aligned and cites existing examples of overlap. LGNZ suggests that the definition of prohibited activities, the process for confirming permitted activity and the enforcemenet tools need to be brought into alignment with the Resource Management Act Provisions so that it can be applied where required. LGNZ has concerns about self monitoring and suggests that additional dafeguards should be considered. LGNZ also addresses issues related to cost recovery,
